چکیده
Abstract Background Klebsiella pneumoniae is a common cause of nosocomial infections. Antibiotic resistance and ability to form biofilm, as two key virulence factors K. , are involved in the persistence The purpose this study was investigate correlation between antimicrobial biofilm formation capability among strains isolated from hospitalized patients Iran. Methods Over 10-month period, total 100 non-duplicate were collected. susceptibility determined by Kirby–Bauer disk diffusion method according CLSI. Biofilm production assessed tissue culture plate method. Finally, polymerase chain reaction conducted detect four families carbapenemase: bla IMP VIM NDM OXA?48 ; associated genes: treC wza luxS confirming gene: rpoB. Results Most isolates resistant trimethoprim-sulfamethoxazole (52 %), cefotaxime (51 cefepime (43 ceftriaxone %). Among all isolates, 67 multidrug-resistant (MDR), 11 extensively drug-resistant (XDR). prevalence genes 7 5 28 %, respectively. results assay indicated that 75 (75 %) could produce only 25 (25 not able biofilm. these % formed fully established biofilms, 19 categorized moderately biofilm-producing, 31 weak non-biofilm-producers. former found be significantly higher than non-biofilm ( p < 0.05). Molecular distribution revealed 98 96 34 carried genes, Conclusions rise antibiotic biofilm-producer demonstrates serious concern about limited treatment options hospital settings. All data suggest fundamental actions introduction novel strategies for controlling biofilm-related infections essential.

Background and Objective: Despite the critical importance of catheter as an indwelling medical device, its prolonged utilization in hospitalized patients may lead to infection. This study aimed to identify distribution of uropathogenic bacteria isolated from catheterized uro-oncology patients, their biofilm production, and antimicrobial resistance patterns to generally -used antibiotics. Mater...

متن کاملPrevalence of Plasmid-Mediated Quinolones Resistance among Klebsiella pneumoniae Strains Isolated from Hospitals in Borujerd, Iran
ABSTRACT Background and Objective: Klebsiella pneumoniae is one of the most common causes of bacterial infections. Presence of plasmid-mediated quinolone resistance genes causes low level of resistance in K. pneumoniae. This study investigated the prevalence of resistance to quinolones and fluoroquinolones, and the frequency of qnrA, qnrB and qnrS genes amo...

Background and Objective: The role of biofilm formation by bacteria has been considered as an important stage in the pathogenesis of Klebsiella pneumoniae. This pathogen is one of the most important opportunistic pathogen agents of nosocomial infections, such as pneumonia, urinary tract infections, invasive infections, and surgical site infections. This study aimed to investigate the biofilm pr...
